Habitat and Distribution

Found in the northern part of Australia usually in close proximity to permanent water supply. Often observed in reed beds.

About the animal:

  • Very shiny and has scales that are very water repellent;
  • The back is blackish brown, fading to yellow on the belly;
  • Can grow to 3m;
  • An efficient and relentless hunter;
  • Mostly nocturnal.

What they eat?

Feeds on rats, bandicoots, wallabies, waterbirds and their eggs.
